Song of the Day

5.27.09 – “American Pie” by Don McLean

don-mcleanToday’s song is probably one of the greatest songs ever written.  Don McLean wrote this song after Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper were killed in a plane crash, which is known as the day the music died.  Don McLean was an amazing folk song writer and unfortunately he will probably never be recognized for anything but this song.   While it is primarily written about a tragedy, the subjects of this song also preserve an entire generation and the american culture associated with them.    Listen to American Pie today.
